WELCOME TO AASAN – THE ONLINE SINGLE WINDOW SYSTEM

Durga Puja is the most significant and vibrant festival celebrated with immense enthusiasm in West Bengal. It honors the mother goddess Durga and her victory over the demon Mahishasura, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. The festivities span ten days, starting with Mahalaya and concluding with Vijaya Dashami.

The festival is a massive display of artistic expression and creativity. Elaborate temporary pavilions known as "pandals" are erected to house the idols of the goddess. These pandals are known for their intricate decorations, often adhering to specific themes which can range from mythological and religious to social and environmental issues. Durga Puja brings together people from all walks of life, transcending social barriers and promoting a sense of unity and community. In December 2021, UNESCO inscribed "Durga Puja in Kolkata" on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This recognition highlights the festival's significance as a cultural and artistic phenomenon, beyond its religious aspects.

The rhythmic beats of the traditional Bengali drum, 'dhaak', are a quintessential part of the celebration. On Vijaya Dashami, married women participate in "Sindoor Khela", smearing vermillion on each other after offering it to the goddess. The festival culminates with the immersion of the idols in rivers or other water bodies, symbolizing the goddess's return to her heavenly abode. This immersion ceremony is a grand spectacle, accompanied by processions, music, and dance.

In harmony with the spirit of the festival, this portal envisaged to accommodate the need of all stakeholders in connection with processing & obtaining necessary permissions. This portal was launched in which every departmental stakeholder can work in a seamless manner through a single-window online system to process permission documents for Puja Committees. As the process is a single-window online system, members can apply for permission & obtain it at their ease without physically visiting various offices.

The portal, as conceptualized & designed by District Administration of South 24 Parganas can now cater the need of more that 45,000 Puja Committees spread across various districts of West Bengal.
